War of words heats up between UT & Florida

KNOXVILLE – Tennessee may need a bigger bulletin board.  In recent days, Florida players have said they don’t respect Tennessee.
They don’t consider the Volunteers as a rival, and one Gator said UT gave up during last season’s 59-20 thrashing.
Phillip Fulmer’s response?

“I don’t think our players quit,” the UT coach said. “If they don’t respect us, why are they practicing?”
Welcome to Tennessee-Florida week.
Verbal shots flew on Tuesday as Tennessee prepared to host No. 4 Florida this weekend in Neyland Stadium. The Gators started with a few zingers on Monday, followed by …

Bowl Scenarios for Volunteers this Season

Making the SEC championship game could mean another December trip to Atlanta for Tennessee.
Win out and UT’s bowl destination is simple. The Vols would be the SEC champion representative in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1.
Lose the SEC championship game to LSU, which has secured the SEC West title, and the Vols likely would be headed back to Atlanta for the Chik-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31.
The Chik-Fil-A Bowl would prefer to land Alabama from the SEC, a source close to the bowl told the News Sentinel. That …

Vols Crush Cajuns, 59-7, In Knoxville

Tennessee put on quite a homecoming show for the fans at Neyland Stadium — just not as many fans as usually pack the place.
The Volunteers` 59-7 victory against Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday was their most lopsided in seven years, but it came in front of the smallest home crowd for a Tennessee game in more than a decade.
The Vols drew 96,197, the fewest since Neyland Stadium, the fourth largest in the country, expanded from a capacity of 91,902 after the 1995 season. The stadium`s capacity is now 102,038. Tennessee was averaging …
