The Big Orange Caravan to visit Cincinnati

Are you looking for the inside scoop on the Vols and Lady Vols for the upcoming seasons? You’ll find it when the 20th Annual Coca-Cola Big Orange Caravan kicks off on April 20 and runs through May 18.
This year’s caravan includes several stops across Tennessee as well as Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Ohio. The events are coordinated through the University of Tennessee Alumni Association chapter program and the Volunteer Athletics and Scholarship Fund (VASF).

Neyland Stadium’s Extreme Makeover

A look at the work being done at Neyland Stadium. Tennessee is in the third phase of a more than $200 million renovation of the 87-year-old stadium.
From certain vantage points in Knoxville, Neyland Stadium looms large.
Since December, it’s been even more noticeable thanks to a stories-tall crane towering over the stadium’s west side.
It’s a sign of the times, another chapter in the history that has known few breaks in additions or expansions since the first spade broke ground on Shields-Watkins field in 1919.

James A. Haslam II Business Building Grand Opening Set for Jan. 6

A grand opening celebration will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, for the new James A. Haslam II Business Building on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The next day, the building will open for spring semester classes.
As part of the Jan. 6 grand opening, College of Business Administration Dean Jan Williams will host the invitation-only ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. in the atrium of the new building. UT appoints Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine

The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture has named Dr. James P. Thompson as Dean of the UT College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). Dr. Thompson’s appointment is effective October 1, 2008. He will be the fifth dean of the college, which is one of only 28 such colleges in the United States.
Dr. Thompson is currently Executive Associate Dean and Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida CVM. He also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology in …

UT Announces Smoking Ban in Neyland Stadium

The University of Tennessee`s Neyland Stadium is now smoke free.
In compliance with a new state law passed this year that prohibits smoking in all enclosed public places, smoking will no longer be allowed inside the gates of the stadium.
Smoking had been allowed in certain areas of Neyland Stadium in past years.
The “Non-Smoker Protection Act” signed into law this June applies to sports arenas, including indoor and outdoor areas.
